Bylaw Amendments – June 2010

The following proposed amendments were approved by government and became effective October 14, 2010.

On June 25, 2010, the Board of the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (CRNBC) met to consider changes to the CRNBC Bylaws.

Amendments are proposed to sections 4.03 (general registration requirements), 4.04 (registered nurse registration), 4.06 (licensed graduate nurse registration) and 4.08 (nurse practitioner registration) to clarify that those sections are not intended to override the applicable reinstatement requirements specified in sections 4.07 and 4.10. The amendments also provide that registrants who ceased to be registered less than one year before the date of the application for reinstatement must complete Form 11 as well as obtain verifications of good standing from all jurisdictions in which they were practising during this time.

Housekeeping changes include:

  • Deletion of section 4.05 (5.1). This section provided for temporary registration for applicants from jurisdictions other than British Columbia for the purposes of providing services at the 2010 Winter Olympic or Paralympic Games to a national team or member of the Canadian Armed Forces.
  • Amendments to section 4.11 (2) (a) (i), 4.11 (3) (a) (i), and 4.11 (5) (a) (i) arising from amendments to section 4.07 (2) (b) and 4.10 (2) (b).
  • Amendments to section 4.15 (2) (d), 4.15 (6) (b), 4.16 (2) (b), 4.16 (6) (b), and 4.17 (b) to correct references to the Health Professions Act.
