The following proposed amendment was accepted by government.
On Sept. 25, 2014, the Board of the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (CRNBC) approved a bylaw amendment to Section 4.03 (5) in regards to reinstatement requirements through the following motion:
RESOLVED THAT, in accordance with the authority established in section 19 (1) of the Health Professions Act, and subject to filing with the Minister as required by the Health Professions Act, the Board amend the Bylaws of the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia, as set out in the Schedule attached to this resolution.
The Bylaws as they are currently worded do not permit the College to consider character and fitness information if the applicant was last registered less than a year or 90 days. Given the College’s mandate to act in the public interest, the proposed bylaw amendment will ensure that the College gathers and considers relevant character and fitness evidence in the processing of reinstatement applications.
A copy of the proposed amendment is being distributed to BC health professions colleges and posted on the College website to ensure that the public and other interested stakeholders may view the proposed changes in a timely manner.
The bylaws of the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia made under the authority of the Health Professions Act are amended as follows:
