It had been a long, busy day in the Step Down Unit and Mia was tired. As she finishes up her tasks, the shift coordinator informs her that she’s received a sick call for the night shift, and needs a volunteer to stay until they can get someone to come in. Mia took a deep breath and replied, “I’m not sure I can do that. I’m pretty exhausted. Give me a few minutes to think about it.”
