updated Sept. 14, 2015
posted Sept. 1, 2015

You can now change your registration status any time of the year. You can apply online to change your status from practising to non-practising/inactive and vice versa.

We strongly recommend you read the Returning to practice and Leaving nursing practice before applying for a status change.

What's new

  • Each time you change your registration status, you must pay a non-refundable $105 change status fee (includes GST) in addition to the registration fees.
  • For those leaving nursing practice due to long-term disability/sick leave or maternity/paternity leave, pro-rated refunds are calculated from the day a nurse on leave, up to 90 days before applying for the change status. We recognize that circumstances can delay a nurse from
applying for a refund, and this is the reason for the 90-day grace period.
  • Working without registration is illegal and taken seriously by CRNBC. There is a $300 fee for working or volunteering as a nurse without practising registration. This fee is in addition to the registration and change status fees.
  • The new fees are based on a cost-recovery approach to setting fees.
