Volunteer positi​ons

We are looking for additional members from the public to join the Inquiry Committee. Public representatives on our statutory committees help us meet our public interest mandate. 

About the Inquiry Com​​mittee

The Inquiry Committee reviews the complaints CRNBC receives about registered nurses and nurse practitioners. This committee directs investigations, reviews investigative findings, and then makes decisions about a registrant’s professional conduct. A member of the public participates in every panel meeting. 

Your role on the commit​​tee 

New committee members participate in an orientation session to the committee and their role and responsibilities. The Inquiry Committee meets by teleconference for 1 – 2 hours. Each committee member participates in a panel meeting about once a month. Each panel consists of members of the public and nurses. 

​Your background 

We are looking for people with experience in: 

  • healthcare, labour relations, risk assessment, law and law enforcement, quality and safety, social work, or related areas
  • professional ethics 
  • evaluating evidence in order to make decisions and give directions

In addition, we are looking for people who: 

  • may have registration with a regulatory body
  • are familiar with the purpose and function of licensing/regulatory bodies
  • are willing to review Professional and Practice Standards for B.C. nurses 
  • are willing to review relevant legislation, including the Health Professions Act, and related materials 

Preferred s​​kills 

Preference will be given to people who: 

  • can critically review and evaluate information from a variety of sources 
  • effectively communicate with others in a teleconference environment 
  • have computer skills to review online documents in a variety of formats and work through emails
