CRNBC–ARNBC joint statement

Fee collection agreement

posted June 10, 2014

The College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (CRNBC) and the Association of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (ARNBC) have signed a fee collection agreement supported by CRNBC’s bylaws and the Health Professions Act.

This agreement is in keeping with the priorities set by CRNBC and ARNBC to collaborate on issues related to their respective mandates. Under the agreement, CRNBC will collect professional association fees on behalf of ARNBC, starting in 2015. These fees will be a part of CRNBC’s registration and renewal fees, in accordance with the Health Professions Act and CRNBC’s bylaws, and will still include annual CNA dues. It is anticipated that nurse’s fees will not change significantly, if at all. Final fee information will be available in December 2014 after the CRNBC Board approves their annual budget and fee structure.

Additional transition planning activities are underway:

  • ARNBC is working towards taking over management of the professional liability insurance program from CRNBC.
  • The CRNBC Awards of Excellence program will be gradually transferred to ARNBC over the next three years.
  • CRNBC and ARNBC will continue to determine which supports for nursing practice fall within their respective responsibilities, and will transition these services as appropriate.
