4 things to know about renewal

You can expect to pay lower renewal fees in 2014 because they now just include the GST.

posted Dec. 6, 2013

1. The renewal deadline is February 28

Renewal opens in early January and closes on Feb. 28. We recommend that you renew by Feb. 1 to ensure that you can legally continue to practise nursing after Feb. 28, 2014.

2. Allow yourself up to 30 minutes to renew your registration

While renewing, you can save the information you enter, stop, and return later to pick up where you left off.

3. You will need to complete a self-assessment when you renew

The self-assessment will help you begin your 2014 professional development plan. We recommend that you preview the questions to shorten your time online.

4. You will save $30 in taxes

While renewal fees haven’t changed for several years, in 2014 you’ll pay less tax (5% GST instead of 12% HST), saving about $30. Renewal fees are $444.15, including tax.
