Labour Mobility Act

CRNBC was granted an extension to its exemption under the Labour Mobility Act. This allows CRNBC to maintain its current registration requirements for Nurse Practitioners, including the requirement for nurse practitioner applicants to pass the clinical exam (OSCE).

  • The extension is until September 30, 2011.
  • Government has granted the extension with the understanding that the additional time will allow CRNBC to continue the work required with provincial counterparts to resolve outstanding concerns about the differences in nurse practitioner occupational standards across Canada.
  • CRNBC's mandate is to protect the public through the regulation of registered nurses and nurse practitioners. As such, CRNBC is responsibility to ensure that nurse practitioners who are registered meet the entry level requirements for safe, ethical and competent practice.
