Barb Crook of Mackenzie and Eleanor Elston of Victoria have been elected for a three-year term to the CRNBC Board, effective September 1, 2010.
Crook, who works as Health Services Administrator at Mackenzie and District Hospital and Health Centre, was elected to the position of rural board member. She previously served on the CRNBC Board from 2005 to 2009. She has spent six years working as a hospital administrator and 25 years working as a bedside nurse in the northern community of Mackenzie.
Elston, who works as Home Support Manager for Beacon Community Services in Victoria, was elected to the position of at-large board member. She has worked 22 years in acute care, residential care and community health.
Election ballots were mailed to registrants in June for two contested positions on the Board: rural board member and at-large board member. No nominations were received for the position of urban board member. To fill the vacant position, the Board decided to elect the board member from among the three unsuccessful candidates for the rural and at-large positions in the 2010 CRNBC election.
The Board elected Sharry Hodgson of Summerland to the position of urban board member for a three-year term, effective September 1, 2010. Hodgson, who works as Clinical Practice Educator - Critical Care at Penticton Regional Hospital, has been a member of the Board since 2008.
The Board is CRNBC’s policy-making and governing body. It receives its authority from the Health Professions Act.
