2010 CNA Scrutineers

In April, the president of the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) will appoint scrutineers for the CNA Annual Meeting to be held in conjunction with the CNA Biennial Convention, June 7-9, 2010 in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

No fewer than five scrutineers must be appointed, one of whom acts as chief scrutineer. Even though electronic voting is used, scrutineers are required to review the results and determine the outcomes of motion votes and elections; and in the event of technical difficulties, scrutineers will be responsible for backup processes (i.e., voting cards for motions, paper ballots for elections).

We seek your assistance in nominating interested nurse members who plan to come to the CNA Annual Meeting. Please use the nomination form.
In making nominations, consideration should be given to:

  • Nurses who are members in good standing in your organisation.
  • Nurses known to be planning to attend the Annual Meeting because CNA does not cover expenses for scrutineers; there is no registration fee.
  • Persons who are not voting delegates.
  • Persons with previous experience as scrutineers, especially in the case of the chief scrutineer.
  • Bilingual members — at least one must be bilingual.

Please note that the nomination form will be the only document being reviewed during the selection. No supporting document is to be appended (e.g. CV, letter of support).

ACTION REQUIRED: Please send the completed nomination form to CRNBC, Executive Office, by January 15, 2010.  Electronic submissions are encouraged.
