the following by inhalation:
oxygen or humidified air;
a mixture of oxygen and nitrous oxide, for the purpose of pain management during labour
The Regulation states that registered nurses may administer oxygen or humidified air without an order. Registered nurses are also permitted to administer a mixture of oxygen and nitrous oxide (such as Entonox) to labouring women to manage pain.
Registered nurses who administer a mixture of oxygen and nitrous oxide must follow
decision support tools established by Perinatal Services BC (PSBC).
