Revisions to RN scope of practice

posted Jan. 28, 2016

The CRNBC Board at its December 2015 meeting approved several revisions to the Scope of Practice for Registered Nurses: Standards, Limits, Conditions:

  • The limits and conditions on administering and dispensing levonorgestrel have been withdrawn;
  • The limits and conditions on wound care have been revised; and
  • The definition of additional education has been revised.

These revisions have been incorporated into the RN Scope of Practice document, and will come into effect March 1, 2016.

Please note that changes to the Nurses (Registered) and Nurse Practitioners Regulation made in December 2015 have not yet been incorporated into the RN Scope of Practice document. CRNBC is currently reviewing the Regulation and determining how to best incorporate the necessary changes.

Please email practice@crnbc.ca if you have questions.
