Watch your email and our website next month as we will shortly seek volunteers for the Nurse Practitioner Standards Committee. The committee has vacancies for three NPs.
There is exciting work coming up! A review of the NP scope document and the standards that it includes is due in 2015.
Taking part is a great opportunity to share your practice expertise and help shape the work of the College in protecting the public through the regulation of RNs and NPs.
In filling the NP positions, we will look in the three categories – family, adult and pediatric. We also want the committee to have NPs from both remote and urban settings. At this time, we would particularly welcome a member working in a remote setting. We’d also like a mix of NPs in terms of the patient populations served.
The process for filling positions is that NPs apply and a slate of eligible candidates is presented to our Board for their decision.
The committee develops and recommends to the Board, standards, limits and conditions for NP practice in accordance with the Nurses (Registered) and Nurse Practitioners Regulation. The committee usually meets three times a year. Members may participate in the ongoing work of the committee between meetings.
We pay travel expenses for committee members to attend meetings.
