Boundaries in the nurse-client relationship: Revised Practice Standard

The College recently revised the Boundaries in the Nurse-Client Relationship Practice Standard (formerly known as Nurse-Client Relationships). The publication of this Practice Standard also marks the start of increased collaboration (PDF) with the other two nursing colleges in B.C.

The nurse-client relationship is the foundation of nursing practice across all populations and cultures and in all practice settings. While some boundaries are clear cut, others are not so clear and require the nurse to use professional judgment. This Practice Standard provides guidance to all nurses in B.C. on how to practise within the boundaries of the profession, and helps reinforce common expectations.
